One -Punch-Man chapter 34 review!! It's funny!
GENOS IS IN TROUBLE! Last chapter in One-Punch Man Genos successfully intercepted an attack by the Sea King; however, Genos has proven that he alone is not enough to stop the awesome might of the Sea King. With Acidic Saliva, the Sea King tried to end the life of a young girl, only to be stopped by Genos, who is now mortally wounded. This week's chapter shows Genos holding out against an onslaught by the Sea king.
This chapter was action packed and tension driven. Genos has proven himself again and again to be the most ideal hero of the series. In fact, I only read this series to see Geno's progression. Only this time, I want to see how Genos was going to get himself out of this predicament. Hilariously enough, Licenceless Rider makes a useless effort to save the day; why doesn't he just simply get a driver's license and become licensed driver? Anywho, as expected Saitama makes a very relieving entrance.
What I liked about the chapter was the artwork and the pacing. Yusuke Murata could do no wrong with his character designs and artwork. The rough line work and the amount of detail that he puts into each page should gain an award. It all depends on the artist, but I find gag manga such as this to be wonderfully drawn. Saitama's cameo appearance in the beginning added that dose of comic-relief, and not because his head was plopped right smack-dab in the middle of things; it was because his head was drawn so hilariously simple from everything else.
It's that simplicity of style that attracts readers. I can boast that this artist is one of the most detailed artist around, only coming second to Kentaro Miura, creator of Berserk...or maybe I just went a tad bit too far with my comparison? I liked the use of cross hatch and simple hatching to indicate shade and perspective. This blend of simplicity is what gives the Sea King that menacing look. Also using digital techniques to blur the images brought life to each panel.
The panels themselves were well animated with a lot of movement, thanks to the artwork that I before mentioned. They were neat, thin, and allowed the pictures enough room to show the action as it should be shown.
My final words on this chapter is that it's excellent. Although some may be put off by the sudden deux ex machina of Saitama, but we all know we rooted for him to save the day. That's how he should be used, sparingly - like Tuxedo Mask, cleaning up the mess.
Anyhow, this manga deserves a nice fresh rating of 9.
One -Punch man is a gag-drama/ martial arts manga written by 'ONE' and drawn by Yusuke Murata. It tells the story of a bored, incredibly strong, and incredibly bald super hero by the name of Saitama who must reluctantly train an up and coming hero, all the while figuring out how to pay the rent and defending Z city from random acts of danger. The manga releases weekly/bi-weekly and can be read on various manga sites.
